365 Days Of Marketing And Me: Day Seventy-Two - 3/13/2021

One Creative Introvert’s Effort To Take On The Extroverted Marketing World…

Welcome to day number seventy-two of 365 Days Of Marketing And Me… where I finally completed adding metadata while fixing the few SEO issues throughout the 2014 era of posts from The Daily Breaker… It took a full week to get through one year’s worth of content so… it may take more than a month to get through the remaining seven years… but it will be worth the effort when I’m done…

Before SEObility Scan To See Results of Fixes….

Before this set of changes… my overall score was at 69%… with a content score of 91%… a structure score of 70%… and a Technical and Metadata score rounding things off with a pathetic 46%… if you need a reminder of my efforts toward improvement to 2014’s The Daily Breaker posts over the past week… I will list all the steps below…

First I compressed each image while also adding alt text descriptions… then I corrected any links that were pointing towards redirected content to use the new permanent address… then I removed all of the blog style URL slugs to shorten each URL… while also making a catch-all 301 redirect… and finally… I added a meta title and meta description for each post…

After these fixes… my overall SEObility score went up a whopping 1% to now be 70%… I was bummed by this number at first… but then I noticed that my content score dropped to 88%… which is still good… but these are also the easiest problems to fix… I was excited to see that the structure went up by 1% because I wasn’t even focusing on that area of the evaluation…

What I’m really excited about is the technical and metadata went up by a full 5%… this is really encouraging because… as I said above… I still have seven years’ worth of posts that also need these changes… meaning that my technical and metadata could go up by as much as 35% once I’m done… it’s going to be a lot of work… but I’m happy to see the evidence that my efforts will be worth it!!!

And with that… my marketing efforts for today are done… and now it’s time to see how I handled the task from yesterday…

According to the 365 Days Of Marketing book… yesterday was Worship Of Tools Day… in the past… I probably would have used this as an excuse to rant about modern leadership… and how we as a society now worship tools… leading to an existence that’s very reminiscent of the movie Idiocracy… but… I stopped following the news over two years ago… so… on top of Mike Judge already covering this point well enough… I wouldn’t be able to add informed insights to come up with anything new…

So… instead… I will share the links below to a few of the tools that I worship as a writer and now as an aspiring web designer… the first tool I worship is the screenwriting software Final Draft… it was this software alone that taught me how to format scripts back when they were on version 4… if it wasn’t for this software… I probably never would have done more than just dream about writing a film… but with it… I actually wrote over twenty-five features and twice as many shorts…

The next tool that I would say that I worship is Microsoft’s Natural Ergonomic Keyboard… not only is it more comfortable for me to write with this device… I’d say that the way that it’s split made it easier for me to learn proper typing techniques… with a well-defined line separating the right and left hand’s keys…

And for the final tool that I worship… this is one that I’ve yet to use… because I’m waiting for parts to fix my desktop computer… but when I do get it up and running… I can’t wait to try this new toy that my mom bought me for my birthday… this tool being the XP-Pen Artist 12… especially now that I have a better grasp of how to use Photoshop… I used to use a Wacom tablet minus the screen… so I can wait to test this thing out to see if it actually is worth worshiping… worship-worthy or not… this thing is going to get used a lot during the next phase of improving this website…

And that’s how I celebrated Worship Of Tools Day from yesterday… now it is time to see what the book has in store for today…

The 365 Days Of Marketing book says that today is Plant A Flower Day… which is actually more of a fun day for me than many may think because it will give me an excuse to share more about my newfound interest in gardening… sure… marijuana is not really a flower… but I’m also growing other plants… mainly plants that can become food… so… planting flowers will actually be new to me… but… I wouldn’t mind a little more color than just green… I can’t wait to share my efforts when I check in with tomorrow’s post!!!

And now… to wrap it all up… below are my statistics for the last seven days… now complete with speed stats…
