Resolution #364: Listen To Darth Vader As He Reads The Bible...

Date: 12-30-2014

Due Date: 12-30-2014

The Resolution: I've read studies that say Atheists are often more read up on religion than believers. Granted both sides of the argument have their fair share of people who don't put in the work only to requote things they've heard from a guy that heard something from a guy who read something one day.

I fall into the category of those who actually put in the work to build my own argument and not that I want to ever debate anyone, I just want this knowledge for myself.

About once a year I listen to the audiobook of God is NOT Great (I can't read all that well do to my dyslexia but I'm really good at listening) I probably watch at least two religious documentaries a week (both skeptic and believer biased) and often listen to Atheistic Podcasts.

I've attempted to read the bible a couple of times in the past but the tiny, dense text, written in that crazy old-timey language just does not work in the dyslexic head that I just pointed out that I have.

I've also attempted to listen to other audiobooks for The Bible. The problem is these audiobooks are geared toward believers who, for reasons unbeknownst to me, can listen to the speech pattern of a preacher without wanting to rip their own ears off.

I don't think this James Earl Jones audio telling of The Bible is geared toward Atheist but I do think I can make my way through it if I picture Darth Vader reading to me during the boring parts.

So, I'm going to give it a shot.

Result #364: I successfully procured a copy of the Darth Vader voiced Bible but failed to muster up the desire to listen to it.

Update #1: The Conclusion.

So I bought my copy of Jame Earl Jones reading The Bible but have yet to give it a listen. I figured that I listen to so many podcasts and talk radio that it would be easy for me to just switch to this audiobook for about a week and call it a win.

I might have pulled this off earlier in this experiment when I was more motivated and on top of upcoming due dates. Ever since I decided to turn this into an on-going bucket list challenge I seem to have mentally checked out, doing the bare minimum and reporting my failures.

Don't you worry though, I will get around to listening to Darth Vader read The Bible someday and when I do I will be sure to share my findings.
