Resolution #91: Visit A Fortune-Teller...
/Date: 4-1-2014
Due Date: 4-1-2015
Resolution: Being that today is the day of fools I figured I'd run with the theme and resolve to test one of my more foolish curiosities. I don't believe in fortune-tellers but I've always wanted to experience firsthand the BS what goes on inside these buildings with the red neon light palms.
I have a fascination with frustration and there's nothing more frustrating than being sold a line of nonsense. I love observing the techniques of trickery. Even though I get annoyed by the shyster's persistence in their pitch even after I've decided that I'm done play the game, it's still a fun game to play. (This also describes my relationship with FOX News.)
Sometime within the year… I will visit a Seattle psychic to see the future that they have in store for me.
Result #91: Another resolution I forgot to do while in Seattle that I'll be revisiting soon.
Update #1: The Conclusion…
Date: 4-1-2015
I really wish I would've followed through with this resolution while I was still living in Seattle. There was a psychic within walking distance of my apartment that only cost $25 for a reading. Unfortunately I had very loose plans to go with a friend but I failed to follow through.
Toward the end of my stay, I started feeling real uncomfortable asking anything from anyone. Even though I offered to pay, my friend wasn't 100% sold on the idea of visiting a psychic. I instantly back burnered the idea to be brought up at a later date.
I never did end up bringing it up again, and never ended up going to the psychic alone either.
Now that I'm living in San Diego I have no idea where the nearest psychic is but it definitely isn't within walking distance. At this point I don't have the extra funds to spend on novelties even if I knew where the nearest psychic was.
I am working on it though.
I've landed a couple freelance writing jobs that are helping me get by. I'm currently taking a couple nonfiction writing classes. Hopefully I'll grow comfortable enough with the genre to broaden the scope of gigs I feel comfortable writing to applying to. Maybe then I'll be able to make enough money more frivolous fun like this.\
That's the plan at least.
As always, I'll keep you posted.
