Yesterday I witnessed first hand how learning actually works. As I pointed out in the past, I am building a series of five web pages to build for my portfolio site. It took me about five days to build the first page. I had to reference back to the lessons often to figure out what I was doing and if the answers weren't there I'd have to search the internet for solutions.  By the time I was done I thought I had it all figured out and that the next page would go much quicker.

Last night I finished the second page. It took about three days to complete because I apparently didn't have it all figured out. There was a difference though. I found that I was able to figure out a lot more answers on my own. Screwing up on the first page introduced me to more and more tools to use to find solutions.

Now I'm about to start page three. I'm willing to bet that I won't have to resort to the lessons anymore and that my internet searches for solutions will lesson as well. Based on the issues I've had from the first two pages I now know how to avoid a lot of problems from the get go.

I've only been at building web sites from code for a little over a month now so it's interesting for me to see and actually feel the progress as I go. Since the time frame has been so short and I've been so interested and focused on the subject; I'm getting more of a heightened awareness of the learning process and it's pretty cool.

Time to get started on page three!!!

Talk to you tomorrow.
