Arg, my keyboard broke the other night and now I'm stuck using the crappy keyboard that came with my computer. I've been using an ergonomic split keyboard for at least a decade if not longer. I find that the split keyboard forces me to use proper fingering when I type. There also seems to be an angle to the keys in order to fit the ergonomic design that allows for just enough space between keys to avoid as many double key presses that I get while typing on a standard design.

This issue is more of an inconvenience than anything I'd consider debilitating. I'm willing to bet that it won't be long until I can't even tell the difference but for now, it's super annoying to have to watch as I type to catch all the extra typos cause by me fat fingers that are trained to navigate a curved surface.

I can already sense an improvement. Yesterday it took me an extra 20 minutes to complete my job, not only was this due to having to make an extra effort to correct my mistakes, but I also found it hard to stay focused mentally as there were more hurdles from getting my thoughts from my mind to the page.

Usually, when I write, my thoughts are a little ahead of what I am actually writing, I'm confident enough in my ability to type that I don't have to wait until a full thought is transcribed before moving on to the next one. Sure, this may account for the usual typos the slip by because I'm not double checking as I type but it also allows me to get lost in the idea allowing me to see the big picture over stumbling through one sentence at a time.

It was actually so bad yesterday (my first full day of dealing with the issue) that I was beginning to think that I was completely screwed. Not only was it taking longer than usual just to get my thoughts out, said thoughts were scattered beyond my standard style of stream of consciousness rambling as the stream was just not flowing due to these tiny troubles.

Now that I've had over a day to get used to my new setup, I think everything will be back to normal by the start of the new week especially since I will be getting more practice in as I continue to work on my latest Android assignment, which should be by Monday or at least to a point where all I have to do is polish the code so that it is more presentable for the instructor.

Time to get to work!!!

Talk to you tomorrow,
