/If you know me then you know that I am fascinated with the concept of parallel universes. I think it all started when I hit that God complex stage of writing when one truly feels they are creating worlds for their characters that genuinely exist in one's mind. I started to see that I was creating characters that were the same but different, reliving the similar themes with different backdrops.
It was around this time that I saw a documentary on string theory had a segment about the theory that when every there is a choice to be made, every possible outcome plays out in parallel universes, kind of like the movie Sliding Doors. This allowed me to justify similar story beats that span my collection of work.
Things started to get even fuzzier as I started to admit that each character I write is based on a conglomeration of people I know in reality. After a while, I started to attribute traits and feelings to and about the real world people based on these fictional characters and events. That's not to say the lines blurred to where I thought these events actually happened but I might feel closer to a person in reality based on a character when the real world connection isn't all that strong.
This disconnect has led to some pretty embarrassing situations, which led me to start to feel that no one ever truly knows the real person making this a world where nothing is real. Many things have happened in 2016 to solidify how real and how wide this disconnect is. The election alone brought out things in people from both sides that I wouldn't expect from the pleasantries passed on in person leading me to have to reevaluate some character profiles that I have created in my head.
Recently, I've been seeing more and more people posting about scientist finding clues that parallel universes do exist and that they are interacting with our universe. Personally, I that's what I think life is, people living in parallel universes that share space with one another. This is how there are some people the genuinely believe that there is a man in the sky pulling the strings that can live in the same house as someone who believes in nothing at all.
This is what I find about the evolution of the internet. The more that people have a voice via social media, the stronger the line between the individual universes seems to grow. I'm hoping this is part of the evolution of technology is just the clumsy stage of youth that we'll eventually figure out. Maybe, we'll eventually to get to the point where we understand the individual universe and its connection to technology that we'll eventually figure out how to coexist without the desire to destroy those that are different.
I don't know where all this came from. I was going to write an update about my garden but ended up on this path after reading a post from a friend and here we are.
Talk to you tomorrow with that garden update!!!
