I might be getting repetitive but I really, really, really, really, hope that I stick with this trajectory going into the New Year. I love this new job of mine and am so bummed out that it only lasts a couple weeks. That said, I am very hopeful that the company that hired me will like me enough to hire me for similar opportunities in the future. Since the gig is so flexible I would accept the offer even if I was working another full-time job.

The world of working for the internet is so weird though. This gig is a search engine optimization style job where I annotate entities within Tweet. I don't know what they do with these annotations but I'd be willing to be that it has something to do with A.I. robots taking over my job as soon as they learn to recognize said entities on their own.

It's also weird because there are about 10 different companies separating me from the company that actually needs the work done. I don't think they are Twitter but they are using Twitter for their research. I do not work for them but for an outsourcing company that's acting as a middle-man. To top it off, I then use an entirely different company to perform my duties. It's a very convoluted world which might be why I fit in so well.

The cool thing about this confusing path is that each layer along the way offers new opportunities. For example, the platform the outsourcing company uses for their employees to perform their duties has a way to get hired by other companies to work on similar tasks.

This is one of these sites where you start out with very limited options as to what you can work on then higher paying tasks become available as you build a reputation of creating quality content. I've tried these in the past and it usually takes too long to get past the ground level to feel worth the effort. The ground level jobs are few and far between and get snatched up quickly.

Luckily, this contracted job counts toward my experience and may land me on a level to where I can keep up this form of employment until I get through school and land my first career gig if that's the route I want to go. I may just take what I learn about building apps and work freelance while attempting to create a money maker of my own.

We'll see what happens and until it does, it's off to work for me.

Talk to you tomorrow,

The Wicker Breaker
