/Oh boy did I cut it close tonight...
Yesterday after finishing my day job I went up to my oldest sister's place to spend the night so that I could celebrate my nephew's graduation. I rarely get out of the house anymore so it's always fun to do so when I get the chance. My middle sister was in town for the event so we made it a family venture.
My oldest sister lives about an hour away so the deal was that we had to be out of there by 8:30 in the PM to give me time to complete today's requirements to fulfill my work needs. With my job, it takes about an hour to finish the main section of my work, then I have to wait an hour then take a quick quiz, of sorts, to prove that I put the proper amount of effort into the tasks at hand.
This hour break is hooked up to a timer so even though I can wait longer than an hour, there is no way I can start the quiz any sooner than one hour and I HAVE to be done by 12:00, midnight. I recently missed one of these quizzes, because they are kind of easy to forget on a busy day. This failure to fulfill my contract has me on a temporary probation, so there is no way that I can miss another quiz for at least a month or two.
That is why it was very important for me to leave no later than 9:00 in the PM but that would be pushing it, and shouldn't be a problem because everyone was on the same page to head out by 8:30 in the PM.
Now me personally, I am good at sticking to a plan but I was just a passenger so I got very antsy when 8:30 hit and everyone started to say their goodbyes. Ten minutes passed and everyone finished their farewells and moved on to gathering their things. Ten more minutes passed when my oldest sister forgot she had a gift for my middle sister which led to ten minutes of preparation.
By the time we stepped out the door is was 9:00 exactly, 9:05 by the time the car started to move. With around an hour to drive, I was beginning to doubt that we would make it in time and the fear of being fired started to set.
I think I was pretty successful at keeping my cool once we hit the freeway, but inside I was stressing as every minute passed on the car clock that ended up being ten minutes fast.
We got home at exactly 10:00 in the PM which meant that I had to do this perfect. I had exactly two hours to fulfill exactly two hours worth of work. Often it takes a little over an hour to complete the first portion of my work so I still wasn't sure that I could pull it off.
A half hour passes but I failed to hit my halfway mark but was doing the best I could to avoid getting in trouble for shoddy work, though I was more willing to get dinged for subpar work because that would be better than another incomplete.
I rushed through the second half and finished with five minutes to spare. It's only an hour a day but at this point it's all that I got so I was extremely happy to pull off this buzzer beater and finish my gig in the nick of time.
Now it is time to call it a day and finally get some sleep.
Last night was my first night sleeping on a couch since I got my new bed and I don't think I slept for more than an hour a clip. Tomorrow I meet with a doctor to get back on my meds so we'll see what happens there.
Talk to you then,
