I'm kind of excited about today because I'm going to build my own version of Instagram. Granted this is still an assignment for my app building class and not my own effort but this is the point in the course where we transition from the beginners material to learning advanced techniques that will really come in handy in my real world applications.

Part of me feel like I should be much further along in my personal projects but I have to remind myself that I've only started to learn real deal web development for about seven months now and just started to learn how to build apps about a month ago and that I still have a lot to learn to be able to flesh out my ideas with fully functional features.

The current plan is to finish this app building class, then I have one more overall web development class that I'm signed up for followed by a backend database building class that I just bought. I feel that once I finish these courses I should have a basis understanding of the things I need to shift my focus to personal projects.

The first thing I plan to do is finally finish my portfolio site. Once I have that done I can use it to start applying for freelance work. Then I'm going to focus on one app and one website to work on while I'm looking for work. Though I plan to continue taking courses, once I get to this point I'll be looking for courses that are more focused on areas that I don't have nailed down, and less all-encompassing courses that take months to complete.

I think that this may be a sign that I'm moving from absolute beginner to the beginning stages having intermediate skills!!! I really hope that one of these days I'll get to the point where my knowledge is advanced enough that I can build at least 90% of my projects without having to reference old assignments or checking the internet for solutions to problems when they arise. It just seems like it would be so fun to be able to sit down and create in this medium that is so much easier to share than any of my written work.

Oh well, I'm not going to learn anything while hanging out here, so it is time for me to sign off.

Talk to you tomorrow,
