Dateline 1-7-2017

Alright, we completed the first week of the New Year and I have to say, I'm really digging 2017 so far. The Seeso Many Saturday Nights challenge that I started has given me a specific topic to type about which has revived my enthusiasm towards writing in general.

There was a while there where these daily posts were getting to be a chore. After I discovered my interest in coding I started to wonder if I just like the act of typing and coding conveys no storylines but still left me feeling fulfilled. I was half tempted to give up on this blog and walk away from storytelling altogether.

Maybe not altogether, the plan was to give up on any form of non-coding content and return to the fun stuff if I was able to translate my training into a career. I was trying to get the most out of my last year of my web hosting service that I'd already paid for while hoping I might get my "groove back" in the process. That is why last year's Breaker posts where to bipolar as far when it comes to tone.

One week I'd be back to giving up to fully focus on school the next I was excited to do both. I think having a structured challenge to write about has relieved my pressure about what to write. Now that I have featured content to worry about, my pressure as to what to write about here has lightened to allow me to have more fun.

The only problem right now is that I need to figure out my structure for the day to allow me to fit in school work and this. I'm not all that worried, though. As long as I like what I'm doing, I'm kind of a fan of overbooking my day. It allows me to go to bed feeling a sense of accomplishment no matter no matter how nonsensical my accomplishments may be.

Now I'm off to watch Richard Prior's first appearance on Saturday Night Live and will be back in a bit with my findings.

Talk to you then,

The Wicker Breaker
