Holy crap, I just remembered that I have to check in for jury duty on Tuesday, which means I really have to get ahead on my SNL reviews because there's potential that I'll be losing the entire day.

For one, most of the day is going to be filled with sitting in the courthouse doing absolutely nothing. I wish I was a person bold enough to just bring my laptop to set up shop and treat it like another day where I'm just working a new location, but unfortunately, I'm uncomfortable enough being out in public on its own let alone doing something that might draw more attention to me. Though this social anxiety isn't new, it's getting worse and worse as I age.

So, I probably won't do much writing from the courthouse unless maybe I write a note or some sort of outline using my phone. Either way, I definitely won't have a full sized keyboard that would allow my fat fingers to type away with any speed or accuracy. Because of this, I'm already mentally prepared to not create any publishable content until I get home.

This is where the second part of the long day will come into play. As a non-driver living in San Diego, who walks everywhere that I have to go, I'll be having a lot of fun navigating the Southern California public transportation system that I didn't even know existed as a kid.

I've since used said transportation system a few times since moving home and each time I've had to travel more than a few miles, the travel time has been a minimum of two hours and have included multiple transfers involving both busses and trolleys in order to travel this sprawled out town.

So, this means that my morning will be shot due to being stuck in transit, my midday will be shot due to the actual jury duty and then my early evening time will be eaten up by my journey home.

Other than the fact that this is going to take up a lot of time, I'm actually kind of excited to do jury duty and hope I actually get picked this time but I doubt it will ever happen. Last time I did it up in Seattle, it took three days for me to even be called to the courtroom to be evaluated and for whatever reason, they kicked me out right away.

I think it would be fun to get out of the house to experience a court case as a juror. It would be a nice temporary change of pace that might shake up my schedule while giving me something to talk about when it's all said and done. I just doubt that I'll ever be selected.

As a politically independent atheist, I feel like I'm too much of a wild card which you would think would be ideal but instead, I think it makes it too hard for either side to feel all that confident as to whether or not I can be swayed.

Who know, though, that's just my theory based on not being selected in the past without ANY bit of evidence that my reasoning was correct in any way. I don't even think that they asked me my political or religious affiliation. Now that I think back to it, the case had something to do with an insurance company not paying out on a patient's claim, and I may have shown my hatred of insurance hand too blatantly.

Oh well, we'll see what happens. It would be nice to get picked up for a five-day trial so that the state will technically pay for my next cartridge of medical weed with my $15 a day salary. As always, I'll let you know how things turn out but until then it's time for me to get to work.

Talk to you tomorrow with another update.

Cheers!!!
