/Yesterday ended up being a real weird day where I both had a lot of fun while continuing my fight with technology. The first thing that happened was, I woke to my dog sniffing at the door like she desperately needed to get out to go to the bathroom. I opened the door to see my nephew standing there ready to play like he often does much later in the afternoon.
At first, I was a little frustrated because I woke from a dead sleep for what I thought was a dog emergency and wasn't quite ready for the high energy of a three-year-old child. By the way, I live in a converted garage and he was out playing in the backyard with his mom/my sister so he didn't just magically appear unsupervised.
After a few a seconds, I accepted the fact that I was now awake for the day and fired up the YouTubes to show the kid videos of other kids playing video games which was surprisingly entertaining to both of us. We started out watching a dad and his kids play the classic game Goat Simulator which held his attention while I started my morning routine.
Normally when he drops in while playing outside he just wanders in and out of my place to update me on the imaginary adventures that he's having outside but this time he hung out for over an hour and really kept me company while I worked, which was a pretty nice change of pace.
After he left, it was time to move on to watch SNL for the day but first, I needed to go to the store for supplies because my internet has been so shitty lately that I needed something to calm my nerves if I have to fight with my media play for another day. When I got home from the store my nephew was back and asked me if I wanted to swim which of course I did because I was hot and sweaty from my walk.
Once the swimming was done, it was so late in the day, I was starting to worry if I'd end up getting everything done especially if I had to deal with the horrible connectivity issues that I've been dealing with to get through my viewing of SNL which after doing some research looks like it's due to my ISP throttling my internet when watching the show on my Fire TV.
I then spent about three hours trying to set up a free VPN to get around this issue to hopefully hold me over until I can afford to pay for a legitimate service. It turns out this isn't the easiest thing in the world when it comes to finding one that works on the Fire TV but I managed to get one working on my computer and I was able to watch the show with ease.
I think if I wasn't actively trying to go with the flow, these ongoing delays would have gotten my head to explode by noon but as it is, I was able to get through a bulk of the day without cursing and yelling at technology but I have to admit, I did have a bit of a breakdown toward the end of the day when I thought that I might miss my deadline.
Oh well, it looks like I'll be watching on my computer for a while, at least until I get my next paycheck. Now it's time to get to work because I need to double day on my reviews to free up my time for an upcoming family visit. Wish me luck at pulling this off and I will let you know how it turns out when I check in tomorrow.
Talk to you then,
