Yesterday turned out to be a pretty nice day. As I said before leaving for the day, I went out to meet up with something that I've been texting with for a little while and it turns out we got along even though, it seemed a little shaky at first due to the fact that I left San Diego when I was 21 and haven't done much exploring since getting back around 20 years later so most of the places that I had in mind shut down over a decade ago.

This kind of got me stuck in my head even though I was really enjoying my time. First, we had some South African food, where I had what seemed to be their version of bangers and mash with polenta in place of mashed potatoes. It wasn't quite what I expected but it was pretty good, enough that I wouldn't mind going back someday to explore more of the menu.

Speaking of explore, after we ate she drove me around my old stomping grounds as a kid while looking for a non-chain $0.99 store which may have gone the way of the dodo. Again, I didn't care because I was really enjoying the nostalgia that was triggered during this wondering tour where we drove by the house I was raised and visited her childhood home as well.

We eventually found a thrift store with quite the collection of junk that would be turned away from the big chains. This was also fun because it's been so long since I've been to a thrift store of any kind. It also relieved a tiny bit of pressure from not being able to come up with something to do.

Next, we just settled into her house to watch a movie and get better acquainted in the real world. This was extra nice because I got to feel what it's like just to hang out without all the pressures of trying to impress in a more natural environment that I'm used to ever since I lost my interest in bars.

Hell, I didn't even drink or smoke last night, which would have been an unheard of notion back when I was living up in Seattle. It was just a relaxing night on the couch with a new friend and I can't wait to do it again which I'm pretty sure is going to happen.

Alright, that's all that I've got for now. Talk to you tomorrow with another update on what I'm doing.

Talk to you then,

The Wicker Breaker
