Operation Achieve Anything: Day One-Hundred-Ninety-Seven, Dateline 7-16-2018

The most important thing to remember is this: To be ready at any moment to give up what you are for what you might become.
— W. E. B. Du Bois

Good morning Crickets. Welcome to day number one-hundred-ninety-seven of Operation Achieve Anything. I am both excited and fearful about today but mainly can't wait to finish things up to go easy. I'm excited by the fact that I've finally been able to sit at my computer again after being bedridden for over a week due to my latest bout with sciatica. That said, I'm still waiting on my new office chair and am feeling some of the pain return that comes from the seat being so low to the ground causing me to have to sit in almost a squatting position and triggers the pain that runs down my left leg.

I also have the same excitement/fear response to today's upcoming Saturday Night Live post, where I've reviewed a show hosted by Trump. I'm excited by the fact that he's such a controversial character that I'm sure it will lead to a few more readers than usual and hopefully, at least some of those readers will stick around and explore more of my site. The fear comes in thanks to the fact that I actually liked the show and fear this will be construed as me being a Trump loving Nazi just because I found him to be funny on a comedy show.

I hate living in this world with so much self-censorship that doesn't stem from feeling that you have an offensive belief but instead stems from just not wanting to deal with the overreactions to everything. I feel it's this type of self-silencing that leads to many of the problems going on at this time. Instead of facing the ugliness to track down the real source of conflict in an effort to find a true solution, instead of trying to bury these thoughts where all they do is fester until an outlet like Trump comes along.

It reminds me of being raised by enablers and alcoholics. Rather than anyone facing anything head on, my family used lots of technics to hide the fact that we weren't perfect and though the non-drunks did have a lot that they wanted to say these thoughts were shared in secret to avoid any unneeded conflict. Then there would be people like my sister who would have outbursts from not being able to take it anymore only to end up looking like the crazy one for sharing an ugly truth.

So the ugly truth for today is that I may not like Trump as the President but he did make for a pretty funny late night comedy host. I wish this actually tied into yesterday's assignment, which I thought that it was, only I forgot to double check the task at hand before starting to type. Though the lesson started out talking about fears, it quickly moved on to be a lesson about how curiosity can act as a driving force to discover the root of these concerns or the driving force of any adventure.

The actual assignment was to explore the last time I used curiosity as a driving force. Again, this is an easy one because, as a writer, I can spend hours at a time letting my curiosity steer the ship as I explore the semi-fictional worlds that I create. I think this is also why I'm not a fan of using traditional structures. I don't want to go on another Hero's Journey, we've all seen it enough to know exactly where every single option will lead. I'd much rather leave the world a scattered but interesting story.

For today's assignment, which is actually another fun one, I'm supposed to go through my inventory of misguided beliefs about myself in order to get rid of the beliefs that are either no longer true or were just in my head in the first place. I have a lot of things stored up there so this should be pretty easy to achieve.

That said, you'll have to wait for tomorrow's update in order to read what I have to say. With that, it's now time to wrap this thing up, which, of course, means that it's now that time for me to say, good day and good luck to you and all of your projects.

Talk to you soon.

Sincerely,

The Wicker Breaker

P.S. Below are links to my novel, which I plan to promote as part of Operation Achieve Anything, as well as a link to where you can buy the book that is providing the structure to this project in case you would like to purchase it in order to play along.
