Welcome to day number thirty-two of 365 Days Of Marketing And Me… as I said yesterday… I’m going to start each of these posts with an update of a marketing effort that I’ve made to turn this blog into a job before delving into the assignments from the 365 Days Of Marketing book… since the book is more about daily marketing themes over actual marketing techniques… which is fine… considering this is an old book that would probably be outdated if the focus was on marketing theories…
Over the past two months… I’ve been tweaking the SEO on this site to improve my Google Rankings… this morning… while checking out the analytics for this site… I noticed that all of my traffic is either direct or through Google… with almost no visitors coming in from Bing or any other search engines… so… I decided to look into what may help to improve my low Bing scores…
It was interesting to see that Google seems more interested in linking and ease of navigation… while Bing seems to be more interested in the aesthetics and content quality… or at least that’s how it seems… considering my biggest problems seems to be that I have multiple H1 tags on many of my pages… since I never thought of marketing when I started this site and had no idea that headers rules were so important…
This is why you may find light purple text scattered through these webpages for the next couple of days until I change all of the unneeded H1s into H2s or H3s instead… depending on what’s a better fit… this is another task that I love because it’s mindless work that I can do while high… which is a bonus… I’ll keep you posted on how these changes affect my SEO scores…
I plan to share more graphs with stats as soon as I figure out which stats are interesting enough to make them worth sharing… until then… it’s time to share how I handled yesterday’s task…
According to the 365 Days Of Marketing book… yesterday was Inspire Your Heart With Art Day… ideally… I would have spent the entire day painting… drawing… and creating digital art… but I was working nonstop on SEO improvement instead… but I did manage to at least sketch the below picture!!!
Alright… this may or may not be considered art… but it’s what I managed to doodle while trying to decide what to draw… it’s been a while since I’ve created a non-digital piece with a pencil and a sketch pad… because I’ve been too busy learning Photoshop… I like it enough to feel that it meets the scope of the task at hand…
Up until I started The Wicker Breaker I liked the idea of creating visual art… but never felt I was all that good… but then I took on several art challenges for 365 Days Of Resolution… where I set a resolution a day and then had a year to complete each daily task… I had about a 50/50 success rate… but I don’t think I failed a challenge that had to do with creating art… below are a few sketches that I made to fulfill a few of the resolution challenges…
I may not be the best artist… but I would say that working my heart is inspired when I do get a chance to work on any form of art… so… I think I met the task from yesterday… actually… since I’m the judge… I’ll go ahead and say yes… instead of just thinking that I did enough… I really need to learn how to be more assertive…
Until I figure that out… it’s time to move on and look at the assignment for today…
According to the 365 Days Of Marketing Book… today is either GI Joe Day… or Freedom Day… and at this point… I’m not sure which day I plan to run with… I might try to track down an essay that I wrote while in college about how GI Joe is a boys introduction to greed… but I have yet to type it into a computer… and I’m not sure if I can find the hard copy in time… if that doesn’t work… I may just share what freedom means to me… I guess we’ll all have to wait to see what I manage to come up with… I look forward to sharing tomorrow’s post!!!
