365 Days Of Marketing And Me: Day Thirty-Three - 2/2/2021

One Creative Introverts Effort To Take On The Extroverted Marketing World…

Welcome to day number thirty-three of 365 Days Of Marketing And Me… where I’ve spent the last eight hours hunting down H1 tags throughout this site to change to H2 tags in the hopes the I will improve the SEO… it probably wouldn’t take this long if I build this site from code… but… since I started The Wicker Breaker before learning HTML… I have to use a web building dashboard to navigate to every single page to fix any issues like this…

It wouldn’t be all that bad if this wasn’t made up of more than three thousand pages to deal with… and even if I did build this page from scratch… I’d still have to open each file since I wouldn’t be able to resolve having more than one H1 tag using a CSS class… but… I would be able to navigate through each document much faster because I wouldn’t have to deal with internet speeds and slow loading admin pages… that are also slow to save before moving on to look for the next H1 tag…

There was also a lag when I would click on the drop-down menu to switch any misused H1 tag to be an H2 or H3 tag… but… about three hours ago… I found that there is no such lag if I use Ctrl + Alt + 4 to change to an H3 tag and Ctrl + Alt 5 for a change to an H2… this is saving me a lot of time… but it’s still a super slow process… but I really hope that it will be worth it…

And there you have my marketing efforts for today… now let’s see what I did to fulfill yesterday’s assignment…

According to the 365 Days Of Marketing book… yesterday was GI Joe Day… and I have to admit that I was never a fan of the toy army men or the cartoon… well… I did kind of like the toys because their movable joints made them more fun to have wrestle than the gigantic unmovable rubber WWF fighters… but… I never bought a GI Joe figure as a fan of the character… I only ended up with them as gifts…

I was more into cartoons that featured talking animals… because I always felt that it was a waste of effort to spend all that time creating animations that could easily be duplicated with actual actors doing stunts… keeping in mind that I was raised before CGI turned everything and everyone into an animation with no limits on what can be done… the “good old days” of TV and cinema…

Being that I’m not a fan… I decided to celebrate the day… I’m going to share with you an essay that I wrote in community college back in 1995… it was supposed to be a descriptive essay about my favorite toy… and me… being like a person from a contest or reality show who always tries to find a technical way to do what they want while still sticking to the scope of the assignment… missed the mark in this instance and ended up writing a gripe that described how this childhood toy was actually a child’s introduction to American greed…

Looking at it now… I find it to be an interesting read… not really for the quality of the content… but because it highlights how I held many of the same beliefs on greed and materialism for most of my adult life… since I still agree with the message of the piece… I went ahead and added the essay to the Stuff I Wrote PreComputer section of this site… click here to give it a read

And with that… let’s take a look at the assignment for today…

The 365 Days Of Marketing book says that today is Groundhog Day… which I feel is kind of lame because it’s a well know establish holiday… and not something more fun and/or quirky like most of the other themed days so far… as always… I had no idea what today’s theme was until I sat down to write this post… so… I’m not fully sure how I plan to handle this task at this time… especially since I feel uninspired by today’s theme… up I’m sure that I’ll figure something out before I have to write about it tomorrow in my next post!!!
