365 Days Of Marketing And Me: Day Forty-One - 2/10/2021
/One Creative Introverts Effort To Take On The Extroverted Marketing World…
Welcome to day number forty-one of 365 Days Of Marketing And Me… where I can’t believe that it’s already almost five o’clock… this is probably because I spent most of today problem-solving a couple of complex issues with my SEO score that took way more research and effort than any of the other issues that I’ve worked on… over the past couple of weeks… put together…
The issues that I worked on today involved writing actual code… and making changes to this site using third-party services… and not simply hunting down little mistakes that could be resolved by a site-wide find and replace… or other repetitive problems where a word or two needed to be swapped out…
I’m not sure which type of problem I prefer… though it’s nice to have to use your brains more for these complex problems… it gets super frustrating when over half of the suggested fixes don’t work as smoothly as the claims… or when the only solution you do find is from an article that so old that I can’t even recognize the version of the software that I’m supposed to use… while also sorting through suggested features that are no longer supported at all…
With that said… the brainless but quick problems to solve can be a fun change for a day or two… but… it can get real old after a while… especially when it takes more time for the pages that need the changing to load… than it does to actually implement the fix… but at the same time… these little lags allow me to take things a little slower… and work while high and listening to my favorite podcast…
Whichever type of issue I favor the more… I just like that I’m actually getting stuff done… I just can’t wait for the changes to improve my revenue and not just ever raising audit scores… that will eventually reach a maximum level… speaking of which… my latest audit is running right now… so I have to wait a couple of hours to see if today’s effort was worth it…
Either way… that’s my marketing effort for the day… so now it’s time to dig into the task from yesterday…
According to the 365 Days Of Marketing book… yesterday was Toothache Day… and I have to say… I’m surprised that I don’t have a toothache right now… because my dental history is atrocious… almost as bad as my financial past… but… unlike my empty bank account… I at least still have a few teeth left in my head…
It all started when I was a kid… and following my parents’ divorce… my mom was too broke to cover the cost of dental work… so I only went when things got really bad… which was fine for me back then… because I was young enough to not need all that much emergency work…
That and I hated the dentist anyways… probably because I only saw them when I was in pain… and they only added to it… while seeming annoyed with me for never setting appointments for maintenance… as if I was the one to blame… which I wasn’t as a child but I also never broke from the emergency only appointment habit… and as an adult… things got really bad…
The biggest problem may have been that I never did anything about my wisdom teeth… and as they grew in… my teeth became crowded to the point where multiple teeth with fillings started to crack and eventually break in half… but these broken teeth relieved the pressure from the crowding… so I just let my mouth do its thing and to this day I haven’t sought help…
In fact… my busted teeth are partially to credit/blame for my midlife meltdown… because when a visible tooth finally busted… I didn’t want anyone to see my mouth… which was hard for me as a person who was known for his laugh and smile… this led me to stop joking as much until I basically lost my sense of humor… and without the jokes… I’d rather be bored all alone than drag everyone else down… all because I’m self-conscious of my smile…
I hope this Toothache Day tale may act as not only a lesson as to what not to do when it comes to staying on top of a dental maintenance routine… but may also encourage someone to put a little more effort into seeking help in general…
And with that… I’m done with the task from yesterday… and now it’s time to see what the book has in store for today…
The 365 Days Of Marketing book says that today is Umbrella Day… and I know I keep saying this… but this is going to be another hard one because… I’m from San Diego where you don’t need to own an umbrella because there’s always sun… but I also lived in Seattle for twenty years and it seemed that nobody there owned an umbrella since it rained so much you just got used to being wet… or you were too cool to care… but… as always… I’m sure I’ll figure something out by the time I check in with tomorrow’s post… talk to you then!!!
