365 Days Of Marketing And Me: Day Forty-Two - 2/11/2021
/One Creative Introverts Effort To Take On The Extroverted Marketing World…
Welcome to day number forty-two of 365 Days Of Marketing And Me… and I am so annoyed that it’s this late and I’m just now getting around to writing this post… because my intentions were to get it out of the way much earlier in the day… but then I decided to do a little maintenance on my piece of shit laptop because it’s old and wasn’t all that great of a computer in the first place…
I only bought it for the few times that I travel… or worked on out of town gigs when I was still doing lighting for film and television… and just needed access to the internet… but now I’m stuck using the thing while my desktop computer is down… due to power supply issues… this morning… I was attempting to do more SEO work when I got fed up with how slow the thing is… and decided to fix a few issues for once and for all… since it now seems like I’m going to be stuck with this thing for a little while…
The actual problems didn’t take all that long to solve… but… between the time that it took to download the tools and then run each scan took way longer than I initially thought it would… because I was thinking about how quickly my desktop computer would have handled each task… then to make matters worse… the tools that I did use to fix each problem slowed down my computer even more… so I had to uninstall each maintenance app after thinking that I had everything fixed…
Thankfully… the fixes didn’t switch back to be errors with each install… and my computer seems to be running just a little better… but not better enough to justify how many hours of today were lost… but… it is what it is… and there is nothing I can do about it… so… I’m just going to be happy with whatever improvement I get… and move on…
Hopefully… tomorrow… I won’t have to deal with quite as much lag time when loading each page of the My Saturday Night Life challenge… since I now have to delete all of my links to the SNL sketches that used to live on NBC’s official website… that I figured would be a safe sight to share links from… only to end up being wrong… it’s probably because they took all the free stuff down to get people to pay for their app… which I will not be signing up for…
So… that’s how my marketing effort for today went… now it’s time to see what I did with the task from yesterday…
According to the 365 Days Of Marketing book… yesterday was Umbrella Day… which for a person from San Diego, California… is a lame day to celebrate… which is probably why I was more inspired to try to optimize my computer instead of writing this post earlier today… even when it does rain here… I don’t really care if I get wet because it’s never all that cold…
You’d think that the fact that I lived in Seattle, WA for twenty as an adult would mean that I’d have more umbrella enthusiasm… since it rains there ten months out of the year… but… since it rained so much… that getting wet was just a way of life… thinking back… unless we’re talking about my filmmaking days… where I may have held an umbrella to protect a piece of equipment… or to cover the talent in between takes… I don’t think that I ever used one for myself…
In fact… I don’t think that I’ve held an umbrella for myself ever since I was a little kid… so Umbrella Day may have been a bit of a bust… but it was still fun to reflect back on my relationship with the rain blocking accessory… while living both in a city that never saw any water fall from the sky… and a city where it was rare to be dry…
And there you have how I handled yesterday’s task… now it’s time for me to rush through the assignment for tomorrow… so that I can get high and go to bed…
The 365 Days Of Marketing book says that today is Visit A Shut-In Day… which… I’m not sure if it will be harder or easier to accomplish this task in the days of this Corona Virus… easier because… shut-ins are now everywhere… harder because… I’m a shut-in myself… plus… aren’t we supposed to avoid making visits??? Maybe I’ll just spend more time in the main house… with my shut-in family… and not in the garage/my makeshift studio… all by my shut-in self as per usual…
Be sure to check back tomorrow to find out how I end up handling this task… because I’ll certainly be back to share!!!
