365 Days Of Marketing And Me: Day Fifty-Eight - 2/27/2021
/One Creative Introvert’s Effort To Take On The Extroverted Marketing World…
Welcome to day number fifty-eight of 365 Days Of Marketing And Me… where I recently completed the free Digital Marketing for Websites course from Udemy… that I shared in yesterday’s post… I started with this class because I found it using the “Newest” filter for the site… and it seemed like to most basic of the courses in my queue… so I felt it would make for a good warm-up… which it was…
As I’ve said a couple of times throughout this project… the SEO changes that I’ve made so far have been the tasks that are easy to understand without the need for any marketing knowledge… like lengthening and shortening page descriptions and titles… with the implementations of 301 redirects being the most advanced tweak for me to implement… and a tweak that I ended up doing wrong… since I only redirected the pages with external links… until I noticed that all of my site’s authority points were gone…
Making these redirection mistakes is why I decided to try to actually learn what I’m doing… and not just rely on the SEO lessons that were glossed over back when I was obsessed with taking web development courses to start to learn how to make websites from code… wanting to escape the lack of control that I have while using the site-building platform that I use…
As I said… the course I shared yesterday and linked to above was a good warm-up… where the first half mainly restated all the things that I already knew from the web-dev classes that I just mentioned… and the second half was a bit of a commercial for an analytic tool created by the company that created the content… which was perfectly fine with me… since the information that covered track the same statistics as most analytic tools… with the only difference being how the dashboard looks…
The main thing that was new to me was that I learned is to use the full www URL when setting up Google Search Console… since I’ve been using a naked URL… thinking it would be easier to add on the extra pieces to catch every version of the page… rather than having to subtract web address bits in order to find a match… I guess it makes sense that it would be best to have the main URL be the final destination after all of the redirects… since not every version of the page is needed… at least that my new guess on why this is the case…
Who knows… maybe the class below… that I plan to take this afternoon will clear this up…
This one is a little over an hour… so there’s a good chance that I’ll take another course or two once I’m done… of course… I’ll be sure to let you know what I think of whatever I end up getting into…
And with that… the marketing portion for today is done… now it’s time to share how I dealt with yesterday’s task…
According to the 365 Days Of Marketing book… yesterday was Tell A Fairy Tale Day… and since I’m still on a break from creating any new fiction until I get my mental health back in order… to where I can get back into immersing myself into the world of the stories I’m working on… without losing my grasp on this reality…
Hell… I’m happy to be able to write for this blog again without feeling like a cuckoo… back when I started the My Saturday Night Life reviews for this site… I thought I was already on a break from writing fiction… but it turns out that I was only not being a scribe to the fictional tales that I was that were being dictated by my mind…
This is probably why I started to act out these storylines that were being juggled around in my head… that ended with me pretending to be an astronaut for fifteen days on Twitter… that I had to stop after putting myself into a self-hypnotic state to the point where I thought I was waking on a spaceship in another dimension… while falling asleep in this realm of existence…
I wasn’t even on drugs at the time… the experience felt like a meditative experience before the hypnotic sensations started to set in… I only craved healthy food and drank water… leading me to lose twenty pounds without effort… and I felt that I finally found a way to actually visit my fictional worlds… I didn’t feel like I needed any drugs or alcohol… because I accomplished escaping this world without first having to go through death…
Though I wasn’t on drugs… my television lost its calibration to where it looked like I was watching 3D movies without any glasses for months… and the way that the velcroed on screendoor that I used would look as it blew in the window… could put anyone in a trance if they lived with the situation long enough… but as a surreal writer… I loved it… maybe a little too much… which is why I took the two-year hiatus from writing altogether… that I often mention…
If you visit fubunker.com… you can read the fairy tale that I created for myself… right before I learned that I learned that a lot of the extreme/physical anxiety symptoms that I was experiencing was actually the vibrating sensation from a compressed nerve… down by where my sciatica pain stems from… and way before I learned that my sinuses and left ear were adding more to the sounds and sensations that I always mistook for as signs that I was losing my mind…
Also… if you’re interested… this is the first draft of the novel that I had on my mind while traveling around in outer space… if you’re interested in reading a longer fairy tale…
That should fulfill the theme for yesterday… and the links ad to my marketing efforts… so this segment is done… now let see what the book wants me to celebrate today…
The 365 Days Of Marketing book says that today is Polar Bear Day… which… I guess means… at some point before my next post… I’m going to have to jump into my cold ass pool… thankfully… as cold as it is… it always feels great on my aching joints and bones… and that it’s been pretty warm over the past several days… so maybe it won’t be as cold as the last time I thought a SoCal winter heatwave would heat the thing up… but… I’m warning you now… you’ll have to take my word for it… because there’s no way a picture of my wicker-breaking fat ass will show up on this site any time soon…
And now… to wrap it all up… below are my statistics for the last seven days…
Keep in mind… I’ve barely spent money on ads a few years ago… do not do much as far as social media goes anymore… and killed the eight years worth of authority points by changing my URLs without properly handling the 301 directs… but… this challenge is meant for creative types with content but no business or marketing skills… that there may just be a way to make a few bucks from their craft… so I’m fine with the low numbers at this point… since it feels like I will be able to show any progress from scratch…
