365 Days Of Marketing And Me: Day Fifty-Nine - 2/28/2021
/One Creative Introvert’s Effort To Take On The Extroverted Marketing World…
Welcome to day number fifty-nine of 365 Days Of Marketing And Me… where yesterday I almost took three free courses from Udemy but the sound quality of one of them was so staticky to the point where I had to turn it off… after it kept triggering the issues that I’m feeling in my left ear… but that’s the fun of free online education… and why I never sign up for just one free course on any subject that I want to learn…
The first course I took was the SEO Mini-Course for Beginners that I said would be the one class that I guaranteed that I’d complete… clocking in at just a little over an hour… I didn’t feel like I was done learning… so I decided to take a course that was simply titled Search Engine Optimization (SEO)… because it was only 38 minutes long… making it an easy item to check of my courses list… plus in the tiny thumbnail… the instructor kind of looked like Will Ferrell…
The first class was the best of the three free courses that I’ve taken so far… counting the class yesterday and not the one that I quit due to the audio issues… there were no audio issues here… the video side was just as high quality… and the information was presented very well… almost as if this wasn’t just an introduction to SEO scatter with plugs for his marketing service… but was also an introduction as to what to expect from his paid training material… while only briefly mentioning his other job to start off the show… while introducing himself…
The second one felt more like a hidden pitch for an SEO analytic tool that the instructor either created… or had an affiliate link to… because the first assignment had you sign up for a free analytic tool that required your contact information to use… there was useful information… and links to other free tools with no strings attached… but it felt more like marketing itself and not strictly a learning lesson…
I also didn’t like how the second instructor was on the screen the entire time… because I get too caught up in studying the trained body language of the instructor to be able to focus on the informative content… trying to find the patterns… and wondering if they’re aware of just how repetitive and robotic unless these subliminal trust-building techniques come across as nature… at least when it comes to me…
Being that today is not only a weekend day… but also my birthday… well… kind of… I’m a leap year kid who likes to celebrate my missing special day at the end of February… because the quirkiness of the month is more fitting with the quirkiness of my soul… all that said… I may not get to any marketing task this evening… unless I fit another short course in… after this evening’s festivities…
Alright… there you have my marketing efforts for today… now let see how I handled yesterday’s task…
According to the 365 Days Of Marketing book… yesterday was Polar Bear Day… and I was in no mood to jump in the pool… like I said that I might in my last post… however… I did finish off my shower as I usually do… by shutting off the warm water to finish up… I do this because it feels good on my joints and bones… also it not only snaps me out of a bad mood… it keeps me from sweating in the steam while I’m trying to put on my clothes…
Another way that I can technically use a polar bear club style experience to fulfill the theme from yesterday… while also marketing older content… here is a link to a resolution that I made to take only cold showers… after my water heater went out… which I committed to because I also heard that there were weight loss benefits to doing this… and not that my apartment was being run by some sort of slum lord… even if he was… the rent was low enough that I wouldn’t mind…
And there you have another technical fulfillment of a theme… now let see what the book has for me to celebrate today…
The 365 Days Of Marketing book says that today is National Tooth Fairy Day… which might be a fun day to co-celebrate alongside my technical lead year birthday replacement… by watching the movie Fairy Tale starring The Rock… my friends and I watched it several years ago while high… and it was a blast… so since I mainly need to figure out a way to entertain my nephew and my mom… since this will be a quarantined celebration… and these are the two people in the house who actually seem to like me… so I’m hoping this viewing with them will cheer me up… while I try to ride out these birthday blues…
And now… to wrap it all up… below are my statistics for the last seven days…
Keep in mind… I’ve barely spent money on ads a few years ago… do not do much as far as social media goes anymore… and killed the eight years worth of authority points by changing my URLs without properly handling the 301 directs… but… this challenge is meant for creative types with content but no business or marketing skills… that there may just be a way to make a few bucks from their craft… so I’m fine with the low numbers at this point… since it feels like I will be able to show any progress from scratch…
