365 Days Of Marketing And Me: Day Sixty-Two - 3/3/2021

One Creative Introvert’s Effort To Take On The Extroverted Marketing World…

Welcome to day number sixty-two of 365 Days Of Marketing And Me… I completed an hour of the Free Moz-produced SEO course that I’m taking through Udemy… other than the fact that this course is from 2017… and fact that this feels more like repurposed content and not created with the intention of being a class… I’d say that this is my second favorite of the courses that I’ve looked at since starting this marketing challenge…

Though there is no real course feel to this collection of lessons… each segment looks like it came from a collection of vlogs that were created in a well-thought-out order… and not just a bunch of YouTube videos of someone working on an old project… with after the fact voiceover to explain what we’re seeing on the screen… but I’ve only seen that type of production when taking art courses online…

I also like how… even though the course is produced by Moz… it doesn’t feel like a pitch for their product disguised as learning material… like an earlier class that I took… that I now receive ten emails a day after providing my email to use their free SEO tool… that was also the worst tool I’ve tried so far… no… though they do use a lot of Moz branding and bring up the service… they also suggest using the free Google Search Console until you’re confident enough with your SEO knowledge to pay…

I’ll have to create an ongoing list of resources… maybe I’ll try to start that today… after I finish the course… but in order to do that… I must first finish up this post…

And with that said… it’s time to conclude the marketing portion for today… in order to move on and share how I handled the theme from yesterday…

According to the 365 Days Of Marketing book… yesterday was Old Stuff Day… and to celebrate… I’m going to promote some of the old stuff on this website… the first thing that I want to promote is one of my favorite discoveries of all of my experiments/challenges… this was the discovery of the fact that… if you play the double album Sandinista! by the Clash in place of the audio of the Cannes Cut of the movie Southland Tales… you get the modern-day equivalent of The Dark Side Of Oz

Another oldie but goodie is from my 365 Days Of Resolution Challenge… back when I resolved to learn how to knit sweaters for penguins… after reading an article they were needed following an oil spill down in Australia… apparently… it was an old article… even at the time… so I pretty much got treated like an idiot when sharing my efforts online… but I still had a ton of fun during Knit And Sip Night

And to round out the rule of three… for my third old post… to celebrate Old Stuff Day… I’m going to include a post from my old There Might Be Insight segment… and is about why I hate action films… this is one of my oldest posts… written before I decided to make this page about long-term challenges… and not just random thoughts…

There you have how I handled the task from yesterday… now let’s see what’s in store for me today…

The 365 Days Of Marketing book says that today is Read Across America Day… and though it would be cool to book a last-minute flight to literally accomplish this task… I’m once again stuck in a situation where I’ll have to come up with a task to technically meet the needs of the theme of the day… but this is nothing new… so… I’m excited to see what I’ll end up coming up with to share with you…

And now… to wrap it all up… below are my statistics for the last seven days…

Keep in mind… I’ve barely spent money on ads a few years ago… do not do much as far as social media goes anymore… and killed the eight years worth of authority points by changing my URLs without properly handling the 301 directs… but… this challenge is meant for creative types with content but no business or marketing skills… that there may just be a way to make a few bucks from their craft… so I’m fine with the low numbers at this point… since it feels like I will be able to show any progress from scratch…
