/A couple of months ago a website that often hires me for one-off jobs offered me for a gig with a bunch of extra steps required before I could actually be accepted. Some of these steps were par for the course, like taking a quiz to see if I qualify and filling out random paperwork required by the client.
This gig also had an extra step that required me to create a random email to only be used for this task. I also had to open a second account through the work site in order to keep my work anonymous. Due to this extra step, I figured that I would be on this task for a while to make these unpaid efforts worthwhile.
It then took about a month before the actual assignment started because the client was working through a couple issues. Again, this delay made me think that this would be a longer short term gig so when it did finally begin, I got to work right away but was a little casual with my scheduling.
I only worked for about five hours the first day but then got so tired that I called it quits when the clock struck midnight in order to hit it hard in the morning. Then, I woke up, did my Wicker Breaker routine before logging back in to get to work, only to find that there was just one hour's worth of work left in the collective queue.
These assignments normally get dealt out in batches so I wasn't really all that concerned figuring that I'd have more work by the evening, that is until I got an email from the boss letting me know that the project was over, which was a major disappointment considering how I thought this would be going on for weeks which would have earned me the money to live off for months but that just wasn't in the card.
Then, yesterday, out of the blue, I got an email informing me that the client finally came through with batch number two and I've been working on it ever since. Once again, I got tired at around midnight but this time I fit in a full eight hours' worth of work. Though I was tired, I also learned my lesson from the last batch and rather than go to sleep to be well rested for day two, I went straight into my next eight-hour shift and have now been awake for over twenty-four hours and am struggling not to crash.
Being that I'm probably going to end up sleeping all day, I figured I'd at least get this Daily Breaker post done early then do my SNL review when I wake up and then end the day by seeing if there is still work in the latest batch even though I have my doubts because of how early the first batch ran out.
So, that's what I've got going on for the day, it's now time to take about an hour to wind down my day and hopefully sleep until at least 2:00 in the PM before I get back to work.
As always, we'll see what happens and I'll be sure to check in tomorrow with what does.
Talk to you then.
Sincerely,
The Wicker Breaker
