Last night at around 11:30 in the PM I completed Phase III of my prep-work plan for my SNL review challenge. Phase III included; creating and adding the header image, which I made the dumb mistake of making it so that it's slightly different every day, capturing and adding an image of the host from their monolog performance, capturing and adding the end of the night SNL graphic featuring the host and a fancy background, add all the tags and finally, adjust the future web address to include the episode number, host and original air date.

This took close to a month to complete with me working on it almost every single day. If you read through the first paragraph, I'm sure you can tell that this was a lot of work but also consider that I did all of these tasks for about twenty episodes for each of the thirty remaining seasons that I have yet to watch or review. That's over six hundred pages that I had to setup so I am glad this phase is finally over.

Phase IV isn't going to be as bad as this is a phase of copying and pasting with just a tad bit of editing. For this phase, I'll being going to an SNL transcript site that I often reference to copy their list of sketches from the night to then paste into my page for the episode. Due to the way their page is laid out, I then have to go through and delete all the extra spaces and any information other than the sketch title. I also add some details that I know will go into the final draft, like writing a sentence to introduce the band or add a note to highlight repeating characters.

This phase is going to take quite a bit of work but it definitely will not take as long as the last phase because I won't have to be waiting for videos to load to then have to search for just the right image while bouncing in and out of all kinds of different programs. No, this task just requires the two websites and my keyboard.

I really can't wait to finish this phase because this will free up so much of my time to where I can finally start thinking about getting into some other project. Just daydreaming about the potential alone has got me super excited about my next step even though I also fear that this might lead me to end up biting off more than I can chew.

Oh well, either way, it will be nice to finally have all these phases over and done with because this is the type of work that can turn a hobby into a chore. Also, either way, I'm taking today off to just goof around and if I get up to anything worth sharing, I'll be sure to report on it tomorrow.

Talk to you then,

The Wicker Breaker
