What a worthless week, all my doing of course but worthless nonetheless. I spent the first half of the week applying for jobs to which all but one company responded with any interest. Unfortunately, said company responded with a note that they were interested in one area of my resume only to then inform me that they aren't currently firing the one role that they felt I would fit.

Well, I've hit that point in my job search where looking for work is now my new job and I need to work it into my day in a way that doesn't distract from my other efforts. Since my change of status is so new, I spent the last week either looking or worrying about how I'm going to make a living.

You know that captioning job that I was tip-toeing around the other day while talking about not wanting to jinx it? Well, I was just informed today that I didn't get it. Though the evaluator may be an actual human, the rejecting response was sent via robot without any information about where things went wrong but I'm willing to bet that it's their dumb test app doesn't have spellcheck like the full version I'd be working with if hired.

If you know me then you know that I am fascinated with the concept of parallel universes. I think it all started when I hit that God complex stage of writing when one truly feels they are creating worlds for their characters that genuinely exist in one's mind. I started to see that I was creating characters that were the same but different, reliving the similar themes with different backdrops.

Last night I finished my second round of tests for the latest job that I'm applying for. I think I did a pretty good job but I'm a little nervous. I don't know why I've been so secretive about the positions that I'm applying for. I think it's a combination of not wanting to get my hopes up and not wanting to jinx myself that leads me to stay silent during my efforts to find work.

Alright, I've slacked enough between jobs now it is time to actively start to seek out employment once again. Though I have been passively perusing the job boards for my next source of income ever since I received the notice that my services were no longer needed at my last gig, up until now I've only bookmarked items of interest but have yet to officially apply to anything due to the hoops you have to jump through just to express interest anymore.

The greed in this world is so out of hand. Sure there's the big examples that you see on the news of corporations hoarding profits for management and investors while claiming "times are tough" in order to avoid sharing the wealth with the workers, but there are also little things where they nickel and dime the poor to profit even more.

As much as I tend to gripe about how shitty my life is, today was the first time that I had to wake to an alarm clock since, I don't know when. Since I work from home and set my own schedule, I normally get to sleep when I want to, wake when I wake and plan my day accordingly. This morning, however, I told my youngest sister that I'd watch my nephew for a couple hours so she wouldn't have to wrangle him in the waiting room during my mom's doctor's appointment, where my sister couldn't leave for some reason.

Yesterday was a nice but uneventful day. It was my youngest nephew's third birthday party which meant time with the family that is always welcome. There was that weird part of the first part of the family where there was a divide in the room between our family, my nephew's father's family with yet another divide for my sister's friends that kind of stood in packs as all the children played.

I was pretty busy the first half of the week working on my assignment and taking classes. I finished all that up by Wednesday and now it's time to start my next assignment.

One of the worst things that I started doing after moving back to San Diego after living in Seattle for close to two decades has to be drinking soda over water. While I lived in Seattle, I drank nothing but water... well, water and booze with the occasional carbonated flavored water as a treat. This water from the tap was so good that it was the most convenient option to quench my never-ending thirst.

Damn it, where yesterday I was reporting that I was happy about how I was accidentally over productive the day before, today my tale to tell is of time wasted. The part that sucks is that, said wasted time, was not due to a lack of effort. I would be fine with that, as it was Sunday after all.

Yesterday ended up being another one of those unexpected productive days. Being that it is technically the weekend, my frame of mind was to take it easy, which is my latest trend when it comes to the weekend. Obligation wise, all I had to do was post my Daily Breaker note and the rest of the day was mine to do with what I wanted.
